The assignment will result in improved security, stability, and operational efficiency of UNDRR’s public websites and supporting infrastructure, ensuring that systems are maintained in compliance with UN ICT security standards and that risks to public-facing platforms are effectively mitigated.

Duties and Responsibilities

Created in December 1999, the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) is the designated focal point in the United Nations system for the coordination of efforts to reduce disasters and to ensure synergies among the disaster reduction activities of the United Nations and regional organizations and activities in both developed and less developed countries. Led by the United Nations Special Representative of the SecretaryGeneral for Disaster Risk Reduction (SRSG), UNDRR has over 150 staff located in its headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, and in regional offices.

Specifically, UNDRR guides, monitors, analyses and reports on progress in the implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030, supports regional and national implementation of the Framework and catalyses action and increases global awareness to reduce disaster risk working with U.N. Member States and a broad range of partners and stakeholders, including civil society, the private sector, parliamentarians and the science and technology community.

The Consultant will be 100% Home based and will work under the Supervision of the the Information Systems Officer/Technical Lead in the ‘Information Design and Technology Systems’ unit in Bangkok.

Qualifications/special skills

A Diploma / Certification in Computer/Information Systems or Computer Science is required. Cyber Security Certifications such as Security+, CEH, OSCP/OSCE are desirable. A minimum of 8 years experience in website/application development as a back-end developer related to application security is required. A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in cyber security is required. Experience in basic Linux shell scripting and Apache virtual host configuration are required. Experience in management of web application firewall deployed in production environment is required. Experience in testing and validating Drupal security advisories is desirable. Experience in penetration testing for website vulnerabilities is desirable.

Languages

English and French are the two working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this position, fluency in English is required
