Internal and external candidates will be considered for this vacancy. For the purposes of this vacancy, internal candidates are defined as staff members holding a regular, fixed-term or short-term graded or ungraded contract, including Junior Professional Officers (JPOs), staff on Special Leave Without Pay (SLWOP), UN Volunteers with at least twelve (12) months of continuous service in IOM, and staff members on secondment/loan released by the Organization, unless otherwise specified in their contract. Staff members holding a regular, fixed-term or short-term graded contract will not retain their contract type if appointed to an ungraded position.
Organizational Context and Scope
Working in accordance with the overall directives of the Supply Chain Officer and under the direct supervision of the Supply Chain Assistant, the incumbent will perform the following duties:
- Routine general Maintenance of office Generator and solar panel systems settings submit monthly report to Supply Chain Officer Officer and ensure change of oil and filters after every 150hrs, inspect the wires, maintain and keep them sustainable always.
- Maintain proper log book of generator maintenance and spare part track record and conduct regular visual inspections of solar energy PV modules for cracks, physical damage, or shading.
- Assist in office routine maintenance within IOM offices and Guesthouse premises.
- Provide general electricity repairs within the office- and Guesthouse compounds by monitoring and maintaining all the required equipment and ensuring they are operational, safe and efficient.
- Provide general maintenance of water- and sewer infrastructure including repair of water pumps when-/if required.
- Proactively undertake daily inspections of buildings and outdoor areas. Replace lightbulbs, conduct small repairs and report on issues beyond own capacity to solve.
- Train and ensure the gardener and all the guards know how to switch on/off both generators and solar energy system safely, main power circuit, contactors, partitions, etc.
- Fix and install new electrical points, emergency lights and cables when needed.
- Liaise and coordinate with IT unit to address related electrical issues.
- Provide a monthly report of the undertaken work, typical problems, identify potential or recurring problems, and take appropriate action. Troubleshoots equipment, diagnose problems and repair.
- General maintenance of the generators 2-3 times a week as well as during outages as requested.
- Will provide technical support to contractor while working in IOM premises or wherever needed technical assistance.
- Perform such other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the supervisor.
Education
- Completion of Secondary Education (High School diploma) is required.
- Technical or vocational certificate in electricity, plumbing, HVAC, or civil engineering is highly desirable.
Experience
- Minimum of 1 to 2 years of progressively responsible experience in building maintenance, facilities support, or mechanical trades.
Skills
- Proficiency in handling power tools and basic electrical measuring instruments safely.
Languages
All IOM staff members in all categories are required to be fluent in one of the IOM's official languages (English, French, Spanish).
For this position, fluency in English is required (oral and written).
Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
