Terms of use

Last updated: June 28, 2026

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of un-careers.siteand its content and features (the "Service"), operated by UN Careers("we", "us" or "our"). Please read them carefully.

1. Acceptance of these terms

By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy and Disclaimer, which are incorporated by reference. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. What the Service is

UN Careers is a free, independent search engine that indexes publicly available job vacancies from the official career portals of the United Nations system and other international organizations, and presents them in a single reading and search view. We are not an employer, a recruiter, a staffing agency or an agent of any organization. We do not post jobs ourselves, do not receive, process or forward applications, and play no part in any hiring decision.

3. No affiliation; trademarks

UN Careers is not affiliated with, sponsored by, authorized by, or endorsed by the United Nations, its agencies, funds or programmes, or any other organization whose vacancies appear on the Service. All organization names, emblems, logos and trademarks are the property of their respective owners and are used only nominatively, to identify the source of a listing. Their appearance does not imply any partnership or endorsement. See our Disclaimer for more.

4. Eligibility

You may use the Service only if you can form a binding contract under applicable law and only for lawful purposes. The Service is intended for a general adult audience and is not directed to children.

5. Accuracy and availability

We work to keep listings current, but we do not warrant that any listing is complete, accurate, current or still open. Vacancies change and close on the employers' own schedules. The authoritative version of any vacancy, including its duties, requirements, grade and deadline, is the original posting on the employer's own website. Always verify details and apply there. The Service may be unavailable, interrupted or changed at any time without notice, and is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis.

6. Applications and fees

The Service is free to use. We never charge you to search or to apply, and we never collect application materials. Every "apply" action sends you to the employer's official site, where their terms and privacy practices apply. The United Nations and its agencies do not charge a fee at any stage of recruitment. Be cautious of anyone who asks for payment, banking details or documents to "process" an application; see our Disclaimer for our fraud-awareness notice.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to, and not to permit others to:

  • use the Service for any unlawful, infringing, fraudulent or harmful purpose;
  • interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to any system or data;
  • access, scrape, harvest or copy the Service or its content through automated means or at a volume that degrades the Service for others, or that circumvents technical limits or these Terms;
  • introduce malware, conduct denial-of-service activity, or probe or test the vulnerability of the Service without authorization;
  • remove, obscure or alter any notice, or use the Service to mislead others as to its source or affiliation.

8. Intellectual property

The Service's original design, layout, text, editorial guides, diagrams, compilation, arrangement, look and feel, and software (together, our "Original Content") are owned by UN Careers or its licensors and are protected by copyright, database and other intellectual property laws. The underlying vacancy information originates with, and remains the property of, the respective organizations; our rights are in the selection, arrangement and presentation of that information, not in the underlying facts.

Our brand. The UN Careers name and the UN Careers globe logo are our own original marks, created for this Service. They are not, and are not derived from, the emblem of the United Nations or the marks of any organization listed, and their presence does not imply any affiliation or endorsement (see section 3).

Your licence. We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to access the Service and to view and print our Original Content for your own job search. No other rights are granted.

What you may not do. Except as permitted by law or with our prior written permission, you may not copy, reproduce, republish, scrape, harvest, frame, distribute, sell, sub-licence or create derivative works from our Original Content or from a substantial part of our compiled listings, and you may not remove any proprietary notice. We reserve all rights not expressly granted here.

9. Third-party sites and content

The Service links to and summarises content on third-party websites that we do not control. We are not responsible for the content, accuracy, policies or practices of those sites. Links are provided for convenience and do not imply endorsement. Your use of any third-party site is governed by that site's own terms and privacy policy.

10. Disclaimer of warranties

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service and all content are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied or statutory, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, title and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure or error-free, or that any listing will lead to an interview, an offer or employment. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so some of these exclusions may not apply to you.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, UN Careers and the people who operate it will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, opportunities, data or goodwill, arising out of or relating to your use of, or inability to use, the Service or any listing, including missed deadlines, inaccurate details, reliance on any content, or the acts of any employer or third party. To the extent we are found liable despite the above, our total aggregate liability will not exceed one hundred US dollars (USD 100) or the minimum amount permitted by law. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, including your mandatory consumer rights.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless UN Careers and the people who operate it from any claims, liabilities, damages and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your misuse of the Service or your breach of these Terms or of applicable law.

13. Privacy

Our handling of data is described in our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy, which form part of these Terms.

14. Changes to the Service and terms

We may modify, suspend or discontinue all or part of the Service at any time. We may also update these Terms from time to time; the "last updated" date above shows when. For material changes we will take reasonable steps to highlight them. Your continued use of the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms.

15. Governing law and disputes

These Terms and any dispute arising from them or from your use of the Service are governed by the laws applicable at the operator's principal place of residence, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules, and the courts there will have jurisdiction. This does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory consumer-protection rules of the country in which you live. You agree to try to resolve any dispute with us informally first by contacting us.

16. General

If any provision of these Terms is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions stay in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a transfer of the Service. These Terms, together with the policies referenced above, are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service.

17. Reporting content and intellectual-property complaints

We respect the rights of others and ask users to do the same. If you are a rights holder (or an authorised agent) and believe content on the Service infringes your copyright, trademark or other rights, or if you represent an organization and want a vacancy corrected or removed, contact us at contact@un-careers.site with: a description of the work or right concerned, the exact URL of the material, your contact details, and a statement of your good-faith belief and your authority to act. We operate a notice-and-takedown process and will review and, where appropriate, remove or disable access to the material promptly. Where the law permits, we may share the substance of a complaint with the affected party and may reinstate material following a valid counter-notice.

18. Your submissions and feedback

If you send us feedback, suggestions, corrections or other materials, you grant us a worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable and sub-licensable licence to use, reproduce and act on them to operate and improve the Service, with no obligation or compensation to you. Please do not send confidential information, anything you are not entitled to share, or sensitive personal data in a message.

19. Contact

Questions about these Terms can be sent to contact@un-careers.site or via our contact page.
