Organizational Context and Scope
This role will focus on supporting BOTP’s in state accommodation settings nationwide facing barriers to independence. The Caseworker - Protection also requires individualised protection-focused casework, including vulnerability assessments, needs identification, and referrals to appropriate support services, as required, and other programme-related responsibilities.
- Assist in the implementation and monitoring of project activities.
- Retrieve, compile, summarise, analyse, and present information/data on specific project topics.
- Support the Senior Protection Associate with the development and implementation of the Protection strategy of the programme through research and additional support as required.
- Conduct comprehensive vulnerability screenings of BOTP’s prior to individualised casework.
- Utilise the Programme Standard Operating Procedures’ (SOP) to Support BOTP in state accommodation.
- Support in coordinating with assigned focal points at State Accommodation Centres as required. Maintain coordination with diverse organisational units and external parties to initiate requests, obtain necessary clearances, process and follow-up on administrative actions, etc.
- Disseminate key and accurate information to BOTP and referring cases with identified vulnerabilities, as necessary. Provide translation and interpretation services, as necessary.
- Draft status reports, identify shortfalls, bring them to the attention of the supervisor and suggest remedial actions to address delivery gaps.
- Draft correspondence on project issues; prepare and update reports, briefing notes, graphics, statistical tables, presentation and other forms of documentation.
- Respond to complex information requests and inquiries; set up and maintain files/records; organise meetings, workshops and training sessions.
- Participate in meetings and conferences; assist in coordinating implementation activities with local authorities, partners, United Nation (UN) agencies, intergovernmental and non-governmental organisations, donors and other stakeholders relevant to the project.
- Assist in monitoring work of Implementing Partners (IP) and report non-compliances to the supervisor.
- Perform such other relevant duties as maybe assigned.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law or a related field from an accredited academic institution with three years of relevant professional experience; or,
- High School diploma with five years of relevant professional experience.
Experience
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, Good knowledge of information technology and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications especially Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Publisher;
- Experience in working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking and other vulnerable groups; and,
- Prior work experience with international humanitarian organisations, non-government or government institutions/organisation in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.
Skills
- In depth knowledge of the broad range of migration related subject areas dealt with by the Organisation; and,
- Case management skills.
Languages
All IOM staff members in all categories are required to be fluent in one of the IOM's official languages (English, French, Spanish).
For this position, fluency in English is required (both written and spoken). Working knowledge of Ukrainian and Russian is desirable.
Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
