Education
- Master’s degrees in environmental science, climate change, water resources management, environmental engineering, data/information management, public policy, economics or a related field
Years of Experience/ Knowledge/Expertise/Skills required
- At least eight (8) years of progressively responsible professional experience in climate change policy, environmental governance, climate/environmental data and information systems, or climate finance.
- Demonstrated experience working with the Government of Iraq, preferably with the Ministry of Environment and/or line ministries, on climate, environment, water or data-related assignments.
- Proven knowledge of national and international climate frameworks, including the NDC and NAP processes under the UNFCCC, loss and damage, and climate finance mechanisms such as the Green Climate Fund.
- Demonstrated experience in institutional development, establishing units or coordination mechanisms, and/or designing data governance and management systems.
- Experience in ICT system development, infrastructure, databases and digital platforms for secure and efficient information flow.
- Experience in preparing funding proposals for international climate or development finance is a strong asset.
- Familiarity with child-sensitive and gender-responsive approaches (children, women and girls) and with the situation of children in Iraq is an asset.
- Fluency in Arabic and English (written and spoken) is required.
- Open to Iraqi nationals only (national consultant).
