WFP Lebanon provides cash assistance to Syrian refugees and in-kind assistance to vulnerable Lebanese, while supporting the Government in strengthening social safety nets. WFP supports resilience-building activities, and its school meals programme improves nutrition and school attendance. Since October 2023, WFP has provided food and cash assistance to people affected by the conflict and has scaled up its food assistance including the distribution of daily meals following the recent escalation.

DURATION: Six (6) Months (Renewable based on availability of funds, business needs and performance). The incumbent is expected to provide services on a when actually employed basis, normally three (3) working days per week preferably a fixed schedule to ensure proper business continuity and efficiency in meeting deadlines and managing expectations of delivery (Monday, Wednesday and Friday). Depending on the calendar month (whether it’s a 4 week or a 5 week month), this is expected to result in approximately twelve (12) to fifteen (15) working days per month. Additional days beyond this level of effort may be requested on an exceptional basis and subject to operational requirements and prior approval.
Job Purpose:
To provide high-quality graphic design, visual communications and multimedia support to the Communications team, Programme teams and Field Offices, contributing to enhanced visibility of WFP programmes and operations in Lebanon. The role will support the production of corporate communication materials, donor visibility products, digital content and field-based storytelling while ensuring proper management and archiving of graphic assets and communication products.

Key Responsibilities (not all-inclusive, nor exhaustive)

Within delegated authority and under the direct supervision of Communications Officer the Graphic Designer will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Produce high-quality internal and external communication products including reports, programme highlights, fact sheets, donor presentations, briefing packages and storytelling documents.
  • Produce beneficiary information materials including posters, leaflets, banners, infographics, awareness materials and multimedia products.
  • Produce high-quality static and animated social media graphics in Arabic and English.
  • Support donor visibility efforts through the design and production of visibility materials including distribution site branding, donor recognition products, e-cards, digital assets and event materials.
  • Conduct photographic editing and manipulation including restoration, noise reduction, reshaping and tonal adjustments.
  • Support the design and visual enhancement of WFP Lebanon's digital and external communication platforms.
  • Provide technical advice and feedback on communication and design materials developed by cooperating partners and implementing partners.
  • Develop, update and maintain standardized templates and visual identity resources for programme units.
  • Support field visibility efforts through the design and production of communication materials for field offices, programme activities, monitoring visits, distributions, events and community engagement activities.
  • Support the Communications team in content creation processes, including layout design, visual packaging of stories, multimedia content development and preparation of communication campaigns.
  • Establish, maintain and regularly update a structured archive of graphic design files, source files, templates, photographs, illustrations and final communication products to ensure accessibility, consistency and institutional memory.
  • Ensure all graphic products comply with WFP branding guidelines, donor visibility requirements and accessibility standards where applicable.
  • Perform other related duties, as required.

STANDARD MINIMUM ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Completion of secondary school education. University degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, Multimedia Design, Communications, Audio-Visual Production or related field.
Experience: At least six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in graphic design including visual communications, multimedia production or related fields.
Language: Fluency in both oral and written communication in English and Arabic. Knowledge of French language is an added advantage.

Required Experiences for entry into the role

  • Advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite including Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop and Adobe InDesign
  • Strong experience in designing publications including digital communication products and/or reports and/or presentations .
  • Strong understanding of visual communication principles, branding and layout design.
  • Experience producing content for social media and digital platforms.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and work under tight deadlines. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong file management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Desired Skills and Knowledge

  • Experience working in humanitarian, development or United Nations environments.
  • Knowledge of printing processes and coordination with printing suppliers.
  • Experience supporting field communication and visibility initiatives.
  • Experience in digital asset management, content archiving and knowledge management systems.
  • Basic photography, videography and multimedia storytelling skills.
  • Experience developing bilingual communication products (Arabic/English).
