How can you make a difference?
UNICEF’s engagement is grounded in the Core Commitments for Children in Humanitarian Action (CCCs) and guided by the principles of neutrality, impartiality, and independence. The office actively contributes to inter-agency coordination platforms, including sector and cluster coordination groups for Nutrition, WASH, Education, and Child Protection. It also supports the Afghanistan community and humanitarian partners in improving service delivery, evidence-based planning, and accountability.
Information management plays a central role in enabling UNICEF to fulfil its programmatic commitments and coordination responsibilities. In Afghanistan, a robust IM function is essential to ensure the integration of humanitarian and BHN indicators, systematic tracking of AWP and CPD results, and effective monitoring of convergence districts prioritized for multi-sectoral action. IM also underpins UNICEF’s ability to contribute to key reports such as the Humanitarian Response Plan (HRP), UNSFA, Situation Reports (SitReps), and the Results Assessment Module (RAM), and to strengthen partner accountability and decision-making at all levels.
