Tasks will include:
- Support the M&D Focal Points and the M&D Unit as requested in the areas of Diaspora Engagement, Migration Mainstreaming, private sector and circular migration;
- Support M&D staff with contact and activity follow-up with migrants’ associations; interns; local authorities; etc.
- Support M&D staff in the collection of specific data related to the M&D activities;
- Assist in the organization of project’s events, including workshops with institutional counterparts and relevant stakeholders and training activities to migrant associations;
- Keep track of various statistics, analytical reports and updated research relevant to M&D activities;
- Assist with the analysis and presentation of data to enhance M&D reporting, briefings and presentations;
- Assist with development, management and updates to other M&D visibility materials;
- Support the M&D team in the fulfilment of administrative procedures and requirements;
- Perform any other tasks as may be required by the supervisor.
Education
Be currently enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent) in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law or related fields from an accredited academic institution or have graduated in the last 12 months.
Experience
- Less than two years of relevant working experience;
- experience in working with migrants, diaspora;
- prior work experience with UN Organizations, international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.
Languages
For this internship, a working knowledge of English and Italian (both oral and written) is required.
Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.

Depending on experience and location, interns are granted a small monthly stipend to help offset costs. Interns benefiting from an internship allowance or scholarship granted by their university or other sponsoring body that includes financial remuneration or credits for coursework will not be eligible for the stipend.
IOM covers Interns against occupational accidents and illnesses under the Compensation Plan (CP), free of charge, for the duration of the internship. IOM does not provide evacuation or medical insurance for reasons related to non-occupational accidents and illnesses. Interns are responsible for their own medical insurance for non-occupational accident or illness and will be required to provide written proof of such coverage before commencing work.
