The incumbent will deliver consistent, high-quality communications, content and visual support to contribute to the digital presence and visibility of RCO and UN in China. Key results include:

Timely, original and engaging multimedia content aligned with the communications priorities of UNCG and RCO.

Effective integration of multi-agency inputs into cohesive and unified outputs.

Professionally designed visual products for digital, print and event use.

Smooth on-site multimedia support for key events and activities of UNCG and RCO.

Organized archiving of communications materials and reliable execution of assigned communications tasks. Output and work assignments:

Designed visual assets for digital and print use, including posters, reports, and campaign materials.

Video outputs including scripting, filming, and editing.

On-site event multimedia support materials.

Visual products for UN in China’s website and social media accounts.

Documentation and archiving of communications outputs and event materials.

Duties and Responsibilities

The UN Resident Coordinator leads the UN Country Team in China, including over 25 UN entities present in China. The purpose of the Resident Coordinator System is to bring together the different UN agencies to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of operational activities at the country level, helping the UN to be a more relevant and reliable partner for governments, notably by establishing and strengthening these partnerships for the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Under the direct supervision of the Communications and Advocacy Officer of RCO and with guidance from the Head of RCO and the Chair(s) of UN Communications Group (UNCG) in China, the incumbent will undertake her / his responsibilities while working closely with other team members. This role will be central in producing high quality communication products as part of the implementation of the comms strategy. The RCO is looking for a qualified graphic designer that is able to produce visually appealing products both in print and digitally. More specifically, 1. Inter-Agency Multi-media Support

Provide specialized multimedia and visual content support to UNCG joint communications initiatives.

Develop and produce integrated content packages for inter-agency use, including short videos, visual storytelling assets, and digital campaign materials.

Transform inputs from multiple UN entities into coherent, audience-oriented communications products, ensuring visual and narrative consistency.

Integrate multi-agency content into adaptable formats suitable for reuse across agencies and platforms. 2. Multimedia Production and Creative Direction

Assist the Communications Officer to provide end-to-end multimedia production, including: Creative concept development, storyboarding and scripting, filming and production coordination, video editing and post-production.

Support the Communications Officer to apply creative direction to elevate the quality and impact of UN communications outputs.

Translate complex SDG and policy content into visually compelling narratives for public audiences. 3. Visual and Digital Content Development

Design high-quality visual assets for digital and print communications, including posters, reports, presentations, and campaign materials.

Develop visual content for UN in China’s website and social media accounts.

Create platform-adapted digital content. 4. Event Multimedia Support

Provide multimedia production support for key events of UNCG and RCO, including: Photography, video documentation, and production of edited highlight videos and recap materials.

Qualifications/special skills

Education: Bachelor’s degree in in communications, media, design, or a related fields. Experience:

At least two year of experience in communications, media production, graphic design, or related fields.

Demonstrated experience in managing social media platforms and producing original digital content.

Strong experience in video production (filming and editing) and graphic design.

Experience supporting campaigns or communications for international organizations or SDG-related initiatives is an advantage. Skills:

Proficiency in design and multimedia tools (e.g., Photoshop, Premiere, InDesign).

Strong creative direction and storytelling skills, with the ability to translate complex ideas into engaging content.

Strong teamwork skills to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, multicultural, and inter-agency environment.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work independently in a multicultural, inter-agency environment.

Languages

Fluency in spoken and written English and Chinese is required. Knowledge of an additional UN language is an asset.
