OBJECTIVE AND SCOPE OF WORK
The Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Intern will support the Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation Section, with a particular focus on programme planning, monitoring, data management, reporting, evaluation support, evidence generation and knowledge management across UNICEF programmes
This role will therefore contribute to the overall achievement of transformative results for children while enhancing the fellow’s professional development through hands-on experience.
Key responsibility areas include
• Assist in quality review of programme reports, including annual and end-of-year reporting processes.
• Participate in monitoring visits, evaluation activities, and follow-up on programme recommendations.
• Support data management, analysis, visualization, and maintenance of programme information systems.
• Contribute to knowledge management, documentation of lessons learned, and dissemination of evidence and best practices.
• Provide coordination and administrative support for planning, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting activities.
WORKPLAN AND REPORTING REQUIREMENTS
The Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Intern will directly report to the Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist and work in close collaboration with programme sections and other team members.
In coordination with the supervisor, a quarterly work plan will be developed that outlines key activities, expected deliverables and performance indicators. Regular performance conversations will take place on the progress of work assignments to allow the fellow to reflect on achievements and areas needing support. The work plan will be revisited and adjusted as necessary based on project progress and

Minimum requirements
Must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD degree programme, or be a recent graduate (within the past 2 years), in Monitoring and Evaluation, Statistics, Economics, Planning, Development Studies, Social Sciences, Demography, Data Science, Public Health, International Development, or a closely related field.
Majors with direct relevance include Statistics, Demography, Economics, Public Health, Development Studies, Social Sciences and related fields.
Applicants must have excellent academic performance demonstrated by recent university or institution records.
• Additional consideration will be given for past academic, volunteer, internship or professional experience in monitoring, evaluation, research, programme management, statistics or data analysis.
• Strong analytical and good report writing and presentation skills.
• Required: proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint; strong analytical, quantitative, report-writing, presentation and organizational skills. Desired: knowledge of SPSS, STATA, R, Power BI, Tableau or similar data visualization and statistical software
