UNICEF Supply Division (SD) works to ensure equitable and inclusive access to essential supplies and services for children and their families, in development, humanitarian and fragile contexts. These supplies are critical to saving lives, supporting children’s health and education, and protecting them from abuse, exploitation, and neglect. As the UN’s largest end to end supply chain entity, UNICEF leverages its global reach, market influence, supply chain expertise and partnerships with governments, civil society, private sector, industry, and other stakeholders to meet children’s needs and protect their rights around the world.
SD focuses on three result areas to maximize impact, scale, and effectiveness: strategic procurement; supply preparedness and response in humanitarian and fragile contexts; and supply chain optimization. To facilitate and accelerate progress toward these results, SD employs three change strategies: financing for supply and services, supply chain digitalization and supply chain localization.
Child Survival Centre (CSC): The Centre will be responsible for the procurement of pharmaceutical supplies, health technology supplies, medical equipment, diagnostics, and other medical supplies. CSC will also be responsible for the procurement of water, sanitation and hygiene supplies. CSC will execute procurement strategies to reduce market barriers, scale-up demand-driven product innovation, and ensure timely access to maternal newborn child survival supplies, health technologies and services.
This position focuses on the commercial function and the incumbent responsible for assistance with procurement cycle for essential medicines and related health products. This position also supports maintenance of optimal stock levels, planning replenishment cycles, and ensuring timely availability of essential medicines products in UNICEF warehouse and appointed strategic hubs to support kit packing, emergency response, and programme implementation efficiently.
The incumbent supports effective service provision to customers, ensuring accurate and timely processing of Requisitions and requests up to the completion and closure of the order, with the overall goal of meeting the needs and requirements of the customers.
Minimum requirements
A Bachelor or equivalent (First Level University Degree) from a recognized academic institution in a field relevant to the position may replace 3 years of related work experience. A Master or equivalent (Advanced University Degree) may replace an additional 2 years.
Desirables
- Language: Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
- Desired Experience: Tendering Experience, International Tendering Experience, Regulated Products, Multicultural Environment.
- UN experience is desirable.
- Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts.

UNICEF appointments are subject to medical clearance. Issuance of a visa by the host country of the duty station is required for IP positions and will be facilitated by UNICEF. Appointments may also be subject to inoculation (vaccination) requirements, including against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid). Should you be selected for a position with UNICEF, you either must be inoculated as required or receive a medical exemption from the relevant department of the UN. Otherwise, the selection will be canceled.
