Internal and external candidates will be considered for this vacancy. For the purposes of this vacancy, internal candidates are defined as staff members holding a regular, fixed-term or short-term graded or ungraded contract, including Junior Professional Officers (JPOs), staff on Special Leave Without Pay (SLWOP), UN Volunteers with at least twelve (12) months of continuous service in IOM, and staff members on secondment/loan released by the Organization, unless otherwise specified in their contract. Staff members holding a regular, fixed-term or short-term graded contract will not retain their contract type if appointed to an ungraded position.
Organizational Context and Scope
The action ’Strengthening protection systems for unaccompanied migrant children and vulnerable female applicants and beneficiaries of international protection ΙΙ’’ under which the candidates will be selected ‘and which will be funded by the National Development Program 2026- 2030 shall contribute to the provision of targeted care interventions to the unaccompanied children (UMC) residing in Greece and other vulnerable people. Therefore, IOM will capitalize on its extensive experience on the areas of child protection so as to provide tailored support to implementing partnes focusing on the provision of protection support to UMC and other vulnerable people and to directly intervene to the UMC by offering accommodation and care services in Emergency Accommodation Facilities (EAFs).
Under the overall supervision of the Deputy Chief of Mission and the direct supervision of the the National Cluster Coordinator (Unaccompanied Migrant Children (UMC)), the successful candidate will provide support to the implementation of project activities.
- Provide general administrative and clerical support to the Implementing Partners in the implementation of the Action's project activities.
- Retrieve, compile, summarize, and present information/data on specific project activities implemented by Implementing Partners and ensure proper and accurate completion of project tools.
- Consolidate and review narrative reports as submitted by the Implementing Partner and also ensure drafting of reports to be submitted to the Ministry of Migration and Asylum.
- Support e coordination for project implementation, involving liaison with diverse organizational units or external parties to initiate requests, obtain necessary clearances, process, and follow-up on administrative actions.
- Monitor the direct operation of the Emergency Accommodation Facility, ensure compliance with the provisions of the relevant legislative framework and provide the necessary guidance to field staff.
- Draft status reports, correspondence, briefing notes, graphics, statistical tables, presentations,
- and other forms of documentation.
Monitors performance of Implementation Partners and compliance with donor requirements for various child protection services, perform quality checks and communicates shortfalls with IOM office.
- Support the development of project SOPs for implementation of child protection activities by Implementing Partners on a homegenious manner.
- Support the organization of meetings, workshops and training sessions.
- Respond to general information requests and inquiries; set up and maintain files/records.
- Perform such other relevant duties as maybe assigned.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law or a related field from an accredited academic institution with one years of relevant professional experience; or,
- School diploma with three years of relevant professional experience.
Experience
- Previous experience in a similar role preferred.
- Familiar with direct assistance to migrants and/or refugees preferred.
- Previous experience working with children preferred.
- Experience in working in a multi-cultural environment an advantage
Skills
- Strong organizational, facilitation, communication, writing and presentations skills.
- Computer literacy in standard software applications (MS Office, etc). Certification of computer literacy will be an asset.
- Valid driver’s license with at least five years driving experience an advantage.
- Personal commitment, efficiency and flexibility.
Languages
All IOM staff members in all categories are required to be fluent in one of the IOM's official languages (English, French, Spanish).
Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
