Organizational Context and Scope
Under the overall supervision of the Medical Coordinator and direct supervision of the National Migration Health Project Officer, the Project Assistant – Health will be responsible and accountable for assisting in the implementation of the health assistance projects to migrants, within the Migration Health Division (MHD) – H2.
2- Retrieve, compile, summarise, and present information/data on specific project topics.
3- Monitor budget by verifying availability of funds, obtaining necessary approval and updating budget-related information.
4- Support administrative coordination of health projects’ implementation, involving liaison with diverse organisational units and external parties to initiate requests, obtain necessary clearances, process, and follow-up on administrative actions, etc.
5- Draft status reports, identifying shortfalls in delivery and bringing them to the attention of the supervisor.
6- Draft correspondence, reports, briefing notes, graphics, statistical tables, presentations, and other forms of documentation.
7- Organise meetings, workshops, and training sessions.
8- Respond to general information requests and inquiries. Set up and maintain files/records.
9- Perform such other relevant duties as maybe assigned.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Medicine or a related field from an accredited academic institution with two years of relevant professional experience; or
Experience
- Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, United Nations agencies and non-governmental organisations;
- Experience in working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking and other vulnerable groups; and,
- Prior work experience with international humanitarian organisations, non-government or government institutions/organisation in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.
- Experience in organising events, such as training, workshops, awareness raising campaigns, etc. and producing pertaining documentation.
- Knowledge of Humanitarian Medical assistance is an advantage.
- Sound knowledge of healthcare, financial and administrative management is an advantage.
- Experience in IOM administrative and financial management, budget monitoring, cash management and internal control procedures is an advantage.
Skills
- knowledge of the broad range of migration related subject areas dealt with by the Organisation; and,
Knowledge of UN and bilateral donor programming.
Languages
All IOM staff members in all categories are required to be fluent in one of the IOM's official languages (English, French, Spanish).
For this position, Fluency in English and Arabic is required (oral and written)
Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
