Organizational Context and Scope
Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission in Angola and direct supervision of the Head of Programs and, in collaboration with relevant units at the country and regional office, the project Assistant will be responsible for the implementation of public health activities in his/her duty station, with a focus on the project “Iron Women: Safe Roads, Safe Lives” on sexual and reproductive health of women truck drivers.
2. Retrieve, compile, summarize, and present information/data on specific project topics.
3. Monitor budget; verify availability of funds; obtain necessary approval and update budget related information.
4. Support administrative coordination of project implementation, involving liaison with diverse organizational units and external parties to initiate requests, obtain necessary clearances, process and follow-up on administrative actions, etc.
5. Draft status reports, identifying shortfalls in delivery and bringing them to the attention of the supervisor.
6. Draft correspondence, reports, briefing notes, graphics, statistical tables, presentations and other forms of documentation.
7. Organize meetings, workshops and training sessions.
8. Organize and participate in filed visits in the provinces.
9. Respond to general information requests and inquiries; set up and maintain files/records.
10. Perform such other relevant duties as maybe assigned.
Education
• School diploma with four years of relevant professional experience.
Experience
• Experience working on public health projects;
• Experience in working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking and other vulnerable groups; and,
• Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.
Skills
• In depth knowledge of issues related to sexual and reproductive health
• Good knowledge of the work of IOM and Angola.
Languages
All IOM staff members in all categories are required to be fluent in one of the IOM's official languages (English, French, Spanish).
For this position, fluency in English and Portuguese is required (oral and written).
Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
