Org. Setting and Reporting

The temporary position is located within the United Nations Support Office in Haiti (UNSOH). Pursuant to Security Council resolution 2793 (2025), UNSOH has been mandated to provide support; primarily to the Gang Suppression Force (GSF), the United Nations Integrated Office in Haiti (BINUH), the Haitian National Police (HNP), and the Haitian Armed Forces in the context of any joint operations with the GSF. Additionally, UNSOH is tasked with delivering technical assistance to the Organization of American States (OAS).

The Property Management Assistant Property Management Assistant is responsible for efficiently and effectively assisting the chief of the Unit or Section in the management of Property Control and Inventory within in the Mission. The temporary position is based in Port-au-Prince and located in the Centralised Warehouse Section of the Office of the Chief Supply Chain Management. Incumbent will report to the Chief Centralised Warehousing and/or her/his designate.

Responsibilities

Within delegated authority, the Property Management Assistant will be responsible for the following duties:

Assists the Supervisor with planning the property management operations, monitor progress through statistical analysis of database records and monthly progress reports for the Unit.

Working with inventory system users and Technical Units to process or review inventory requests and reservations.

Liaises with the Self Accounting Units, Procurement Section and Movement Control Section at the mission on matter related to Inventory Control.

Utilizing Umoja's Logistics Execution module to perform goods issues based on approved shipments, ensuring items are properly removed from the warehouse storage location.

Responsible for the maintenance of accurate and auditable records, in both hard and electronic format, for accountability of UN Property at mission in conformance with Administrative Instructions, headquarter guidelines and mission Property Management standard operating procedures.

Assists in the utilization and enhancement, as required, of the established business intelligence and management tools to monitor and evaluate the overall progress of the Mission’s inventory management.

Monitors the Umoja Inventory Management database, ensuring anomalies are identified in Discrepancy Reports and addressed immediately.

Prepares periodic performance reports in line with the quarterly reporting regime, reviews and ensures accuracy of data.

Prepares accurate and auditable statistical reports for management in missions and DOS/SCM and drafts correspondence, as required;

Assists the Chief of the Unit in compilation and drafting the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and flow charts relating to all aspects of Property Management activities within the context of the overall mandate of the Unit, including terms of reference and job descriptions for the Staff in the Unit.

Identifies issues and implements solutions to problematic areas related to Inventory Management.

Performs other duties as requested by his/her supervisor.

Education

High School or equivalent diploma is required

Work Experience

A minimum of 8 years of experience in the field of property management, inventory control, logistics management or related field is required. Experience providing services to or in a field operation of the United Nations Common System or a comparable international organization is desirable. Experience in an ERP database administration is desirable.

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this job opening, English is required. French is desirable. Assessment

Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.

Special Notice

This temporary job opening is available for three months and is being advertised for advance planning purposes pending formal approval of the relevant funding and staffing structures. An appointment may be terminated, or post level adjusted in accordance with the Staff Rules for such reasons as abolition of post or reduction of staff or committee funding approvals, for example in the event that the funding for the post is not approved or the mandate of the mission is not extended. The selected candidate will be expected to temporarily deploy for three months.

If the selected candidate is a staff member from the United Nations Secretariat, the selection will be administered as a temporary assignment. While this temporary assignment may provide the successful applicant with an opportunity to gain new work experience, the selection for this position is for a limited period and has no bearing on the future incumbency of the post. United Nations Considerations
