Internal and external candidates will be considered for this vacancy. For the purposes of this vacancy, internal candidates are defined as staff members holding a regular, fixed-term or short-term graded or ungraded contract, including Junior Professional Officers (JPOs), staff on Special Leave Without Pay (SLWOP), UN Volunteers with at least twelve (12) months of continuous service in IOM, and staff members on secondment/loan released by the Organization, unless otherwise specified in their contract. Staff members holding a regular, fixed-term or short-term graded contract will not retain their contract type if appointed to an ungraded position.
Organizational Context and Scope
Under the overall supervision of the National Project Officer and the direct supervision of the Regional Coordinator (Thessaly), the successful candidate will have the following duties and responsibilities:
Support close communication and coordination within the Region.
Support senior management in building and maintaining relationship with regional stakeholders and support in coordination with external actors operating at regional level for the smooth implementation of project activities.
Support the promotion and building local synergies with other programs, as implemented by IOM or other humanitarian actors, ensuring complementarity in the provision of services at the regional level.
Represent IOM and the project in regional coordination forums and relevant events, presenting the project achievements and promoting its objectives, alongside IOM priorities, as assigned upon coordination with senior management.
Identify challenges and opportunities for the social integration of the project beneficiaries to support project advocacy.
Support the Region in developing and implementing regional policies and measures promoting tcn integration.
Support the operation of regional working groups and coordination schemes.
Maintain communication with regional authorities to disseminate information regarding the project services and activities and to promote access to and mainstreaming of services.
Ensure strong working relationships with chambers and regional associations.
Perform such other duties as may be assigned.
Education
High school degree/certificate with five years of relevant work experience, or;
University degree and/or higher in Psychology, Social Work, Law, Economics, International Relations, Public Administration or any other related field with minimum three years of relevant experience.
Master’s degree in the above fields will be considered an advantage.
Experience
Previous work experience in a similar role;
Experience in working in a multi-cultural environment preferred.
Skills
Possess adequate combination of knowledge, education, training experience and skills to perform essential functions of the position;
Computer literacy in standard software applications;
Strong work ethics and commitment to humanitarian principles;
Valid driver’s license with at least five years driving experience an advantage
Languages
All IOM staff members in all categories are required to be fluent in one of the IOM's official languages (English, French, Spanish).
For this position, fluency in English and Greek is required (oral and written).
Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
