How can you make a difference?

The Supply Officer reports to the Supply and Logistics Specialist set-up for supervision and guidance. The Supply officer provides technical and operational support in the as per the Country Office (CO) set-up and is responsible for managing the logistics chains of a small sized country office, or elements of a larger supply operation. The supply chain operations include planning, in country procurement, contracting, customs clearance, warehousing, in country transport and distribution, as well as monitoring supply services. The incumbent supports management collaboration with programmes in defining supply interventions to meet programmatic needs and achieve results for children, and provides technical and advisory support to governments, national systems and partners on supply chain management.

Minimum requirements

Education: Bachelor or equivalent (First Level University Degree) in Business Administration, Management, Economics, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Procurement, Contract/Commercial Law, International Development, Health or related social science field.
Work Experience: A minimum of one (1) year of relevant experience, at the national and international levels, in supply, logistics, procurement, contracting, administration and/or other directly related technical fields is required. Understanding of development and humanitarian work.
Skills: Experience gained in a humanitarian, emergency, or public-health-emergency setting. Experience supporting an active outbreak or emergency response (e.g., Ebola, cholera, measles, mpox, displacement, or a declared L2/L3 emergency), preferably in the Democratic Republic of the Congo or comparable fragile, conflict-affected, and resource-constrained environments. Experience working with and/or through counterparts (Government and decentralized authorities, UN agencies, cluster and coordination mechanisms, implementing partners) to deliver measurable results in insecure or hard-to-reach areas.
Language Requirements: Fluency in French is required.

UNICEF appointments are subject to medical clearance. Issuance of a visa by the host country of the duty station is required for IP positions and will be facilitated by UNICEF. Failure to comply with such requirements, where applicable and without a duly approved medical exemption from the relevant UN authority, will result in the cancellation of the selection or may lead to other administrative measures, including separation from service.

This position has been assessed as an elevated risk role for Child Safeguarding purposes as it is either a role with direct contact with children, a role that works directly with identifiable children’s data, a safeguarding response role, or an assessed risk role. Additional vetting and assessment for elevated risk roles in child safeguarding (potentially including additional criminal background checks) apply.
