Organizational Context and Scope
Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission (CoM) in the Country Office Slovakia and the direct supervision of the National Legal Officer; and in collaboration with other team members, the incumbent will be responsible and accountable for supporting the implementation of projects aimed at strengthening institutional capacities in the area of labour migration and labour mobility, including the coordination and delivery of capacity-building activities, research and compilation of policy and legal information, and provision of technical assistance to government institutions, employers and other relevant stakeholders.
- Assist in the planning, coordination, implementation and monitoring of project activities.
- Act as focal point for administrative coordination of project implementation, involving extensive liaison with diverse organisational units and external parties to initiate requests, obtain necessary clearances, follow-up on administrative actions, etc.
- Draft correspondence on project issues, prepare and update reports, briefing notes, graphics, statistical tables, and other forms of documentation.
- Organise meetings, workshops and training sessions, prepare training materials and participate in the delivering of capacity building workshops.
- Respond to complex information requests and inquiries. Set up and maintain files/records.
- Participate in meetings and conferences. Maintain effective liaison and coordination with local authorities, partners, United Nation (UN) agencies, intergovernmental and non-governmental organisations, donors and other stakeholders relevant to the project.
- Provide inputs for the development of Standard Operations Procedures (SOP) and concept papers and provide general administrative/technical support for the development of new projects.
- Provides guidance/training and assist in coordinating and monitoring work of other staff in the unit. May supervise other staff as assigned.
- Organize and conduct interactive online or in-person training sessions aimed at strengthening the capacity of employers and institutional stakeholders to manage the employment of foreign nationals.
- Facilitate discussions and Q&A sessions to clarify legal procedures and practical obligations.
- Provide suggestions to adapt training delivery methods based on participant feedback and identified learning needs.
- Conduct research and compilation of legislative, policy, institutional, and labour market developments relevant to project objectives, and contribute to the preparation of reports, assessments, policy papers, and other knowledge products.
- Support the planning and implementation of research activities, including stakeholder consultations, interviews, focus groups, and data collection and analysis, to inform evidence-based policy development and project implementation.
- Perform such other relevant duties as maybe assigned.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Social Science, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law or a related field from an accredited academic institution with four years of relevant professional experience; or,
- High School diploma with six years of relevant professional experience.
Experience
- Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, United Nations agencies and non-governmental organisations.
- Experience in working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking and other vulnerable groups.
- Prior work experience with international humanitarian organisations, non-government or government institutions/organisation in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.
- Professional experience in the field of migration, integration, or inclusion, or other relevant professional experience demonstrating in-depth knowledge of the legislative framework governing the employment of foreign nationals in the Slovak Republic.
- Proven experience in the development of training and informational materials, and a strong track record of delivering effective training sessions.
- Experience in reviewing legal documents, institutional frameworks, policies, strategies, etc.
- Experience in writing and editing of research papers, studies and reports.
Skills
- Excellent knowledge of legislative framework governing residency and employment of foreign nationals in Slovak Republic.
- Familiarity with capacity development frameworks, excellent facilitation skills, writing and analytical skills.
- Strong analytical skills and policymaking skills.
Languages
All IOM staff members in all categories are required to be fluent in one of the IOM's official languages (English, French, Spanish).
For this position, fluency in Slovak and English is required (oral and written).
Working knowledge of other IOM’s official languages is an advantage.
Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.

This vacancy is 50% part-time. Later increase in part-time or possibility of full-time will be subject to confirmed funding.
