The Communications and Advocacy Section provides support to the successful implementation of UN Women’s strategic objectives to strengthen the capacity of UN Women to lead on women’s rights, empowerment and gender equality and to be the partner of choice to close the gender gap. In a time where we are facing increased pushback and a shifting funding landscape, strengthening UN Women’s brand visibility and coherence, and demonstrating our impact and value add, are two critical priorities that shall direct the work of the Digital Design and Branding Consultant.
Reporting to the Multimedia Specialist, the Communications Analyst (Video Editor) is responsible for assisting in the planning and implementation of the office communications and advocacy strategies to increase the standing and awareness of UN Women with partners, the media and the public.
Scope of Work
• Develop, script, film, and edit engaging content for digital platforms (social media, campaigns, websites, internal communications).
• Ensure consistency in tone, style, and brand guidelines.
• Collaborate with global colleagues, and in HQ with editorial and social media teams to align content with strategic goals.
• Produce a variety of video visually compelling formats including short-form social videos, explainer video, video message of the executive director,
• Work and guide external producers for motion and animation videos, and review the results
• Guide and work with social content creators, and review the results
2. Coordinate Global Video Footage Oversight
• Collect, review, and categorize footage from global teams, agencies, and productions.
• Maintain quality standards across all submitted video materials.
• Coordinate with regional teams to identify content needs and ensure footage availability.
• Ensure proper permissions, usage rights, and brand compliance for all footage.
• Guide regional and country teams for in video field missions
• Support the DAMS manager with the video library/DAM side, ensuring files are correctly tagged, organized, and searchable.
• Oversee metadata accuracy, naming conventions, and taxonomy to guarantee easy retrieval across regions.
• Train global teams on DAM workflows and best practices for uploading, tagging, and retrieving assets.
• Monitor asset lifecycle, archive legacy content, and ensure storage and version control are maintained.
• Work with IT/DAM manager and vendor to troubleshoot issues and optimize system performance.

Education and Certification
• A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Experience
• Experience working with creative teams and developing visual concepts is required.
• Fluency with Adobe Creative Suite, including Adobe Photoshop, Premier Pro, After Effects and Illustrator, is required.
• Knowledge of typography, color and sound correction /production is required.
• Knowledge and experience in gender themes is desirable.
• International experience is desirable.
Languages
• Knowledge of another official UN language is desirable (French, Arabic, Chinese, Russian or Spanish).
