Duties and Responsibilities

Background: The UN System Workplace Mental Health and Well-being Strategy for 2024 and beyond was approved and launched in late 2023. The Strategy identifies 12 key indicators based on the 'Mental Health at Work Policy Brief' published by WHO and ILO in 2022. The 2024 and beyond strategy outlines 12 indicators and areas for action for UN Organizations. The system-wide implementation of the Strategy is governed by an inter-agency Implementation Board. The Board has identified that a collation of materials is needed to provide clear templates and guidance related to the scorecard.

The goal is to scale best practices that meet the criteria set out by the scorecard. In order to assist UN Organizations to make progress in implementing the indicators, a number of Working Groups have been established, with several more to be phased in over the next six months. A Project Officer consultant is required to support the implementation of the Mental Health & Well-being Strategy with the specific task of assisting the MHS Working Group on Psychosocial Risk Management with the development and implementation of a tool to achieve the requirements of scorecard indicator

1. The consultant will also support the development, review and implementation of products to achieve outputs of scorecard indicators 2 -12. The duties and responsibilities of the Project Management Consultant are:

1. Review progress on actions identified in the UN System Mental Health and Wellbeing Strategy for 2024 and Beyond, and monitor progress within UN System entities

Participate in all scheduled Implementation Board meetings and Working Group meetings.

Ensure active engagement on discussions, decisions, and action items.

Monitor and follow up on the implementation of actions agreed upon during meetings. 2. Support the activities of MHS Working Groups, with a specific focus on the Psychosocial Risk Management Working Group

Work closely with external researcher on the development of a UN Psychosocial Risk Management Tool

Gather and provide necessary supporting materials, such as research papers, data, and policy documents, relevant to the focus of each working group.

Develop and maintain project plans, including information related to budget and procurement.

Ensure deadlines are met and provide reminders to relevant stakeholders as necessary. 3. Draft Reports and Products

Prepare draft reports, summaries, and other deliverables for each working group, for the attention of the MHS Implementation Board members, and other UN bodies and Committees, as requested.

Collaborate with group members to finalize these documents, ensuring they accurately reflect the discussions and decisions made. 4. Data Analysis and Monitoring

Conduct data analyses to track progress on the scorecard indicators.

Develop dashboards or visualizations to communicate findings and support decision-making.

Qualifications/special skills

Master's degree in Public Health, Organizational Behavior, Business Administration, Human Resources, related area is required. A first-level university degree (Bachelor's degree or equivalent) with two additional years of relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree. A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in project or programme management in the area of organizational behavior, public health or workplace health is required.

Experience in developing and coordinating multi-agency projects or programs, preferably within the UN system or other international organizations is required. Experience in drafting technical reports for diverse audiences, including senior management, stakeholders, and external partners, is required. Publications in the field of workplace mental health is desirable.

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required. Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage. Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish are the official languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
