Within the wider framework of the UNDP Strategic Plan and RBAS priorities, the Regional Hub for Arab States in Amman offers a wide range of support to Country Offices including strategic policy advice, programme development and implementation, capacity development, policy research and analysis, knowledge services, and operations.

The Operations Management Team provides financial, human resources, procurement, logistical, ICT and common services to all teams at the Regional Hub, country offices and UN agencies.

Under the overall guidance of the Operations Manager and direct supervision of the Administrative Analyst, the Driver provides reliable and safe driving services to the UNDP/UN officials and high-ranking visitors ensuring highest standards of discretion and integrity, sense of responsibility, excellent knowledge of protocol and security issues. The Driver also demonstrates a client-oriented approach, courtesy, tact and ability to work with people of different national and cultural backgrounds.

The Driver provides driving services to Hub management, operations and programme staff in the Hub, consultants and experts, and UNDP/UN staff on mission.

The Driver will be responsible for delivering all UNDP Hub official correspondence to government entities such as MOFA, MOI, MOL……etc, and non-government entities and ensure that they are delivered to the right place and person.

UNDP adopts a portfolio approach to accommodate changing business needs and leverage linkages across interventions to achieve its strategic goals. Therefore, UNDP personnel are expected to work across units, functions, teams, and projects in multidisciplinary teams in order to enhance and enable horizontal collaboration.

  • Provide reliable and safe driving services using office vehicle predominantly to the high-ranking visitors UNDP/UN officials, visitors and backstopping the driver of the Deputy Regional Director/Regional Hub Director, when and as needed.
  • Transport the Hub senior management or other UN visitors or officials applying appropriate protocols
  • Deliver and collect mail and documents and perform other messenger responsibilities.
  • Meet official personnel and VIP visitors at the airport and assist with visa and customs formality arrangement when required.
  • Ensure cost-saving through proper use and day-to-day maintenance of the assigned office vehicle.
  • Maintain accurate daily vehicle logs and maintenance vehicle record.
  • Provide inputs to preparation of the vehicle maintenance plans and reports.
  • Make timely minor repairs and/or arrange for major repairs
  • Ensure timely changes of oil, check of tires, brakes, car washing, etc.
  • Verify the fuel invoices received from the suppler.
  • Ensures availability of all the required documents/supplies including vehicle insurance, vehicle logs, office directory, map of the city/country, first aid kit, necessary spare parts in the assigned vehicle.
  • Ensures that all immediate actions required by rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in accidents.
  • Complete and maintain an up-to-date training related to security and security driving such as security defense driving, SSAFE, ETB, …and further related training
  • Support the processing of customs entries related to protocol requests and visa requests.

Provide support for issuing residencies and work permits .

  • Assisting with pouch, procurement, workshops, and other administrative tasks as deemed necessary for the efficient functioning of the Office and the Organization

• Valid Driver’s license is required.

• Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience as a driver with a safe driving record is required;

• Knowledge of driving rules and regulations and skills in minor vehicle repair and maintenance is required.

• Experience in NGO or UN is an asset
• Basic and Advanced Security Training & BSAFE is an advantage.
• Experience in the basic use of computers and relevant office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc) and ability to use web-based

• Knowledge of protocols and security requirements is an advantage.

Required Language(s) (at working level) • Fluency in English and Arabic is required
