Organizational Context and Scope
Under the overall supervision of the COM and the direct supervision and guidance of the Senior Field Security Officer, the Field Security Associate will assist in the implementation and coordination of security- and administration-related services and tasks to ensure the high quality and accuracy of work within the Security office.
The Field Security Associate promotes a client, quality, and results-oriented approach while performing crucial operational functions. Additionally, the incumbent will continue to play a major role in implementing recommendations stemming from the audit of the IOM Safety & Security function. The Field Security Associate works closely with the other Local Security Assistants within the mission and with the Senior Field Security Officer. He/she maintains professional working relationships with other UN agency staff to exchange information and ensure consistent service delivery.
- In coordination with the Senior Field Security Officer, follow up on staff members’ compliance with safety and security protocols, including completion of mandatory security training and obtaining security clearances as required.
- Provides support in conducting a security survey of offices in IOM Libya.
- Support the effective management of the Country Office Warden system by maintaining updated staff lists, including call sign lists, and ensuring the overall operability of communications systems, particularly SCAAN. Ensure that all relevant safety and security information is disseminated to IOM personnel in a timely manner.
- Ensure that all safety and security communications equipment is functioning and in good condition, with a regular inventory duly maintained.
- Provides support in organizing and conducting training courses on security awareness and preparedness and provides security orientation to newly assigned IOM personnel in the duty station. Conducts security briefings, as required.
- Maintain an orderly filing system for confidential correspondence, security files/documents. This includes maintaining a database on contact details of the country UNDSS office and the host country security authorities.
Perform such other duties as may be assigned.
Education
- University degree in Security, Social Sciences, International Studies, Communications or a related field from an accredited academic institution, with three years of relevant professional experience;
- Completed High School degree from an accredited academic institution, with five years of relevant professional experience.
Experience
- Relevant professional experience in the humanitarian, public, private or corporate sector is desirable;
- Experience in providing security coordination and administrative support for an international organization is desirable;
- Experience in the use of radio communications is desirable, and;
- Successful completion of the UNDSS Field Security Associate (FSA) course is desirable.

Languages
All IOM staff members in all categories are required to be fluent in one of the IOM's official languages (English, French, Spanish).
For this position, fluency in English (oral and written) is required. Working knowledge of Arabic is desirable.
Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
