Internal and external candidates will be considered for this vacancy. For the purposes of this vacancy, internal candidates are defined as staff members holding a regular, fixed-term or short-term graded or ungraded contract, including Junior Professional Officers (JPOs), staff on Special Leave Without Pay (SLWOP), UN Volunteers with at least twelve (12) months of continuous service in IOM, and staff members on secondment/loan released by the Organization, unless otherwise specified in their contract. Staff members holding a regular, fixed-term or short-term graded contract will not retain their contract type if appointed to an ungraded position.
Organizational Context and Scope
In close collaboration with national and local authorities and experienced Partners, through the 'Helios+;: Comprehensive actions for the integration of third-country nationals into the labour market' in the Region of Crete" with MIS Code 6018664 under the Programme "Crete 2021–2027", IOM aims at promoting the integration of beneficiaries of international protection and temporary protection into the Greek society through activities for employability support, the provision of Greek language courses and vocational training, the support for independent living, including rental subsidies, activities promoting social cohesion and inclusion.
Under the overall supervision of the Regional Coordinator and the direct supervision of the relevant Regional Liaison Focal Point, the successful candidate will have the following duties and responsibilities:
- Support the organization of events promoting social cohesion.
- Maintain communication with municipal authorities and local stakeholders to promote access to and mainstreaming of services and promote the disscemination of information on the project.
- Support the operation of municipal working groups and coordination schemes.
- Disseminate information to local communities and municipal authorities regarding the project services and activities.
- Act as focal point with the implementing partner for the organization of events promoting social cohesion.
- Develop tools and mechanisms to monitor the impact of the social cohesion events.
- Identify challenges and opportunities for the social integration of the project beneficiaries.
- Conduct and maintain updated a local service mapping.
- Ensure strong working relationships with municipal authorities and service providers.
- Support the supervisor to facilitate coordination at the local level, identify opportunities for collaboration and synergies, and contribute to the promotion of social integration initiatives for project beneficiaries.
- Perform such other duties as may be assigned.
Education
- High school degree/certificate with three years of relevant work experience, or;
- University degree and/or higher in Social or Technical Sciences with minimum one year of relevant experience.
Experience
- Previous work experience in a similar role, with public or municipal entities;
- Experience in working in a multi-cultural environment preferred.
Skills
- Possess adequate combination of knowledge, education, training experience and skills to perform essential functions of the position;
- Computer literacy in standard software applications;
- Strong work ethics and commitment to humanitarian principles;
- Valid driver’s license with at least five years driving experience an advantage.
Languages
All IOM staff members in all categories are required to be fluent in one of the IOM's official languages (English, French, Spanish).
For this position, fluency in English and Greek is required (oral and written).
Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
